Mapungubwe National Park is located at the confluence of the mighty Shashe and Limpopo Rivers, this envisaged transfrontier park embraces South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Mapungubwe people inhabited the Limpopo River Valley a millenium ago. This kingdom was the forerunner of the Zimbabwe civilisation. The diverse vegetation, giant baobabs, riverine forest and the associated plains accomodate a variety of wildlife. During time of our visit in February the park was full flowering plains and high grass cover. The common waterbucks, impalas and our first klipspringers were are rewards in this park. |
